The celebration of Bangladesh's Independence Day (Bengali: Shwadhinata Dibôsh) takes place on March 26. On March 25, 1971, in the wee hours, the nation declared its independence from Pakistan. The day serves as a remembrance for the hundreds of innocent bystanders who lost their lives in the ensuing Bangladesh Liberation War (Wikipedia, 2018).
